Lively Indonesian Independence Day Celebration: School Hosts Various Educational and Community-Building Competitions

West Jakarta – To commemorate the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, SD Islam Al Azhar 8 Kembangan held a series of lively competitions on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Held in the schoolyard, the event was met with enthusiasm by the entire school community. The prevalence of red and white attire further heightened the spirit of nationalism and togetherness throughout the activities.

Students from all grades—1 through 6—participated in the competitions. A variety of traditional Independence Day contests were organized to foster agility and teamwork among the children. The *kerupuk* (cracker) eating contest was a highlight, providing great entertainment and laughter, while the ball-transferring race helped cultivate concentration and teamwork skills from an early age.

Participation extended beyond the students; the excitement was amplified by the involvement of teachers and members of *Jamiyyah* (the parent-teacher association). One of the most anticipated events was the tug-of-war. Cheers erupted as the audience watched the displays of strength and coordination among the teacher teams, *Jamiyyah* groups, and inter-class teams—all conducted in a spirit of good sportsmanship.

Through these activities, the school aimed not only to provide entertainment but also to instill values of perseverance and unity, while strengthening the bonds between students, teachers, and parents. The entire event proceeded smoothly and orderly, concluding with a prize-giving ceremony and a group photo session.
